How it started

The Grator Lowrider remotely controlled brush mower for step slopes was created out of personal necessity. A guy who likes to come up with ideas got tired of mowing slopes with a string trimmer. The idea was to be able to relax in the shade and play with the mower remotely. It had to handle any type of terrain and any type of grass or brush. It also had to be suitable for personal use (fit in a car trunk). The existing solutions were too weak, too expensive, too big/heavy and poorly designed. So a dream team came together to create an ideal machine for the job.

The team

The Grator was developed by a bunch of friends and family. As luck would have it we had a mechanical engineer, a professional aluminum/stainless steel welder, a battery expert and an ideator with some background in marketing.

Iterations

For the past 2 years we've been coming up with improvements and features that make the machine simpler, more robust, lightweight, and versatile. It had to be an indestructible mower that will be in use for the rest of the owner's life. The machine is simple enough to be self-serviceable.

The company

When the prototype was perfect we got it CE certified and the company was incorporated.
