Grator on extreme slopes: the video evidence, with numbers

A specification table cannot show how a remote-controlled slope mower behaves on a 50° meadow: whether it slips, how it turns, how it brakes on the way down, how it recovers when a wheel loses grip. Footage can. This page is Grator's evidence log: every clip below shows a production Grator Lowrider working a measured slope, and every clip states the slope, how it was measured, whether the ground was wet or dry, the terrain, the place and the date. Clips are edited for length only.

Read the numbers correctly. A clip demonstrates capability under the conditions shown on that day. Grator's 70° figure is a demonstrated edge-case capability on dry, hard, cohesive ground with thick grass, not an everyday working recommendation; typical working slopes are lower and depend on the surface, moisture and grass, as explained in the Questions & Answers. Wet grass on a side slope is the hardest case for any machine, so we film and label those too.

How the slope is measured

Where the entry says inclinometer, a bubble or digital inclinometer was placed on the ground along the line of travel, on camera where possible. Phone app means a phone clinometer app held against the slope. Estimated means judged from the terrain and the footage, and those entries are marked so you can weigh them accordingly. Degrees, not percent: 45° is a 100% grade, 60° is 173%, 70° is 275%.
